Manage a .si domain from Claude or Cursor
DomainSpace runs an MCP server, so an AI agent can check names, read your domains and edit DNS for you. This walkthrough shows the tasks in order. The full list of tools and permissions is on the agents documentation page; we do not repeat it here.

What you are connecting
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an AI client call tools on a server (modelcontextprotocol.io). Our server exposes tools for checking .si names, listing your domains and orders, editing DNS records, and preparing a registration or renewal.
No tool can pay. When an agent prepares a registration or renewal it only receives a link. You open that link while logged in, check the details, accept the terms and pay on Stripe's page. The agent cannot give consent for you and never sees your card.
1. Create a token with the permissions you need
Log in, open API access in your dashboard and create a token. Copy it right away: it is shown once and stored only as a hash. Each token has one or more permissions, and a call without the right one fails with a message naming it:
- read: see your domains, DNS records and orders, and check availability and prices.
- dns:write: add and delete DNS records on your domains.
- purchase: prepare registrations and renewals. It only returns links.
Give an agent only what its task needs. A token that only checks names needs just read. You can set an expiry date and revoke a token at any time.
2. Connect your client
Claude Code
Run this in a terminal, with your token in place of the placeholder:
claude mcp add --transport http domainspace https://domainspace.si/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer dsp_YOUR_TOKEN"Cursor and other clients
Clients that connect to remote MCP servers over HTTP and allow custom headers take a configuration like the one below. The key names and the settings file differ between clients, so follow your client's own documentation for where it goes; we have not tested every client.
{
"mcpServers": {
"domainspace": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://domainspace.si/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer dsp_YOUR_TOKEN"
}
}
}
}We tested the server with the official MCP TypeScript SDK client over Streamable HTTP. Signing in with OAuth is not supported yet: use a token.
3. Things to ask for
Check whether a name is free
Is your-name-here.si available, and what does it cost?The agent calls check_domain and reports availability and the first-year price. Names must be a to z, 0 to 9, hyphen, or č, š, ž.
Prepare a registration
Prepare the registration of your-name-here.si and your-lab-here.si.start_registration accepts one name or up to ten and returns a single checkout link. Nothing is bought. You open the link, review the details and pay.
Point a domain at your host
Add an A record for @ pointing to 203.0.113.10 and a CNAME for www pointing to your-site.example.net on your-name-here.si.Needs dns:write. The tools apply the same validation as the dashboard editor. Ask the agent to list the records afterwards and compare. The values for common hosts are in the hosting guide, and 203.0.113.10 above is a reserved documentation address, not a real server.
Watch expiry and renew
Which of my domains expire in the next 90 days?list_domains returns expiry dates and whether renewal is open. start_renewal returns the dashboard link where you renew, while renewal is open. See price, renewal and expiry.
Follow an order
list_orders and get_order show the status of an order until the domain is registered.
If the domain uses Cloudflare
When a domain's DNS has been moved to Cloudflare through our one-step setup, the DNS tools answer that DNS is managed at Cloudflare and do not edit anything. list_domains and get_domain then include the nameserver mode. Edit those records in Cloudflare.
Staying safe with an agent
- Treat the token like a password. Do not paste it into a prompt, a repository or a shared config file.
- Use one token per client, with a name that tells you where it lives, so you can revoke it alone.
- Prefer
readplusdns:writefor day-to-day work, and addpurchaseonly when you want an agent to prepare orders. - Review DNS changes before relying on them: a wrong record can take a site or email offline. Ask the agent to show you the records it plans to add before it adds them, and to list the zone afterwards.
- A token reaches only your own domains and orders, requests are rate limited per token, and your dashboard shows recent token activity.
You need a registered domain first. If you do not have one yet, read Who can register a `.si` domain?. DomainSpace is an independent reseller, not affiliated with Register.si, ARNES or any AI company.
Ready to look for a name?
Search for a .si name. If it is free, registering takes a few steps and the price is shown upfront.
Tip: you can check up to 10 names at once, separated by spaces, commas or new lines.
