.si domain price, renewal and expiry

A .si domain is paid per registration period, and it does not renew itself with us. This guide explains what you pay, how renewal works and exactly what happens if a domain is left to expire.

What it costs at DomainSpace

A one-year registration costs €29, and the price you see includes VAT. It is the price you pay at checkout: nothing is added afterwards, and the DNS editor, invoices and renewal reminders are included.

Renewal is €29 per year today, the same price as the first year. That can change, so the renewal price shown in your dashboard when renewal opens is the one that counts.

Registration periods

The registry's general terms allow a registration period of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years. DomainSpace currently sells one year per purchase and each renewal adds one year.

Renewing early costs you nothing in time: a renewal adds a year to the current expiry date, it does not restart the clock from the day you pay. For example a domain that expires on 5 October 2027 and is renewed in July 2027 then expires on 5 October 2028.

How renewal works with us

  • Nothing renews automatically. Domains are registered with auto-renew off, and we never charge your card without you going through checkout.
  • Renewal opens 90 days before expiry in your dashboard and stays open until the expiry date. Before that day the dashboard shows when renewal opens.
  • We email you about 30 and 7 days before expiry, so a forgotten date does not cost you the name.
  • You get an invoice for every renewal, like every order.

If you manage domains through an agent, the MCP tools can prepare a renewal link for you, but a person still opens it and pays. See manage your `.si` domain from Claude or Cursor.

What happens at expiry

The registry's rules decide this, not the reseller. According to the general terms, a domain that is not renewed is moved into quarantine automatically (section 5.3.2). The quarantine lasts at most 30 days (5.4.2), after which the domain is deleted and can be registered again by anyone (5.4.3).

  1. Before expiry: the domain works and can be renewed normally.
  2. Expiry date passes without renewal: the domain enters quarantine. The terms we read do not say what happens to its DNS during quarantine, so assume your website and email on it can stop working.
  3. During quarantine (up to 30 days): the holder may still be able to get the domain back through the registrar. Openprovider's .si page mentions a 28-day restore window for an extra fee; fees and the exact window are set by registrars and can differ.
  4. After quarantine: the domain is deleted. From then on anyone can register the name, and you may lose it for good.

Our dashboard offers renewal until the expiry date. After expiry, contact DomainSpace support: we cannot promise that a quarantined name can be restored or what it would cost, because that depends on the registry and the registrar.

How not to lose a name

  • Put the expiry date in a calendar you actually use, as well as relying on our reminder emails.
  • Keep the account email address current. Reminders go there, and a reminder sent to a mailbox nobody reads helps no one. If the person who looks after domains leaves your team, change the address the same week.
  • For a name your business depends on, renew early, or when you register, plan for the cost of the next years.
  • Do not let a domain lapse because you moved: if you change registrar, the registration period stays the same (see transferring a `.si` domain).

Invoices, VAT and refunds

Every order gets an invoice, including renewals, and the price includes VAT. If we cannot register a domain after you paid, for example because someone else registered it in the meantime, you are refunded in full automatically.

Consumers in the EU have a 14-day right of withdrawal. Because we register the domain immediately after payment, checkout asks you to consent to that and to acknowledge that the right ends once the service has been fully performed. The details are in our terms of service.

Search for a .si name. If it is free, registering takes a few steps and the price is shown upfront.

Tip: you can check up to 10 names at once, separated by spaces, commas or new lines.
