Why .si for an AI company
.ai → .si. In AI circles, “SI” is shorthand for superintelligence. The domain itself is Slovenia's country code and has no official connection to AI.
It reads as “SI”

Questions
What is .si?
.si is the country-code top-level domain of Slovenia, run by the national registry, Register.si, which is part of ARNES (the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia).

No. .si is Slovenia's country code and has no official connection to AI. The appeal is that “SI” is used as shorthand for superintelligence in AI circles, in the same way .ai (Anguilla's code) appeals to AI companies.

We are an independent reseller of .si domains. We are not affiliated with Register.si or ARNES, nor with any AI company. We register domains through the registrar platform Openprovider and take payment through Stripe.
Who can register a .si domain?
Individuals and companies. The registry's terms define a domain holder as a natural or legal person and do not require you to live in or be established in Slovenia. You must give accurate registrant details.

If you register as a private person, the registry's terms allow at most your contact email address to be published in its public WHOIS, not your name, address or phone number. A company's details can be published. There is no separate privacy service for .si, so as a private person use an email address you are happy to have public.
Which characters can I use?
Letters a-z, digits and hyphens, plus the Slovenian letters č, š and ž. The registry allows other Latin characters too, but we only accept these so that a name you pay for is not rejected afterwards.
How long does a registration last?
The registry allows registrations of one to five years. You can register or renew for 1, 2 or 3 years per purchase.

Under the registry's rules, a domain that is not renewed enters a quarantine period of up to 30 days and is then deleted. Your registrar may charge a fee to restore a domain during that time. Renew before the expiry date shown in your dashboard: you can do it there from 90 days before expiry, and we email you reminders 60, 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before, on the expiry day and afterwards while it can still be renewed. With auto-renew on, we send a notice 21 days before and charge your saved card 14 days before expiry; you can switch it off at any time.

Registry rules allow a domain holder to change registrar, and changing registrar does not alter the registration period. Our registrar platform states that a .si domain must be at least 60 days old to move out. In the dashboard, open the domain and use "Move this domain to another registrar": it gives you the transfer code once (for .si the password the registry needs, nothing to calculate), turns the registrar lock off where the extension has one, and emails you that a code was requested.

If we cannot register your domain after you paid (for example because someone else registered it in the meantime), you are refunded in full automatically. If you are a consumer in the EU you have a 14-day right of withdrawal. Because we register the domain immediately after payment, you are asked at checkout to consent to that and to acknowledge that the right ends once the service has been fully performed. Details are in our terms of service.
Why did I get an email asking me to confirm my email address?
After you register a domain, we send you a separate email from DomainSpace with a link to confirm your email address. Registrars must check that every domain holder can be reached, and the email is genuine. If the address is not confirmed in time, the registrar may suspend the domain until you confirm. You can have the email sent again from your dashboard.
