Billing & renewals
My card was declined: what happens to my order?
Nothing is registered and nothing is charged until a payment succeeds.
We register a domain only after the payment went through. If your card is declined, the order stays unpaid and the name stays held for you for 30 minutes from the start of the payment.
- On the payment page you can try another card or another way to pay. You can also go back to our checkout ("Continue to payment") and start a new payment page for the same name.
- If your bank charged you but the order shows an error, we refund automatically when we cannot register the domain, and we email you. See the article on refunds for failed registrations.
- Automatic renewals: if the saved card is declined we email you a link to renew in one click. A declined card is tried again 7, 3 and 1 days before expiry. If your bank asks you to confirm the payment yourself, pay through the link in the email.
